                Encyclopaedia Britannica 
Encyclopaedia Britannica is one of the most accurate and famous encyclopaedias. Also it is the oldest encyclopaedias and a general encyclopaedia in English that grew rapidly in size and popularity. It is a Scottish founded in 1768 in the Scottish city of Edinburgh , but now it is American company. It targets educated readers and intellectuals, and it was run by its founders Colin Macfarquhar and an engraver Andrew Bell who formed a partnership and created a new book, the three-volume work was developed by one author, William Smelly where the first edition was published in 1768. The ownership of the encyclopaedia went from Sears Roebuck to William Benton to Jacqui Safra who gained ownership in 1996.
